Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This policy explains what the Bark Talk iOS app (“Bark Talk”, “we”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. Bark Talk is an entertainment app: it records your dog's bark and makes a playful AI guess at mood and a fun “translation”. It is not a real translation and not veterinary advice. If anything here is unclear, email talzvi99@gmail.com.

We don't ask you to create an account

Bark Talk has no sign-up, no login and no password. We don't ask for your name, your address or your phone number, and we don't build a profile tied to your real-world identity.

What stays on your device (and your own iCloud)

The following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad, and — if you are signed in to iCloud — synced to your own private iCloud account so it follows you to a new device. It is stored in your Apple account, not ours; we cannot read it. To stop this, turn off iCloud for Bark Talk in your device's Settings.

Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

What we and our providers collect

Translation requests

When you record a bark, the audio clip (up to 8 seconds) is sent over an encrypted connection to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) and from there to Google's Gemini API, along with your dog's profile fields (name, breed, size, age, personality) so the result sounds like your dog — never the photo. Gemini returns a mood guess and the playful translation text. We do not store the audio or the result on our server; it is used only to produce the response and is then discarded. The clip and the result are saved on your device and your own iCloud, as described above.

Dog profile analytics

The answers you give when setting up your dog's profile (breed, size, age band, personality, goals) are also sent to PostHog as analytics properties, tied to a random, pseudonymous install identifier — not to your name or contact details.

Usage and diagnostic data

We collect anonymous information about how the app is used — which screens are opened, which features are used, and technical details such as your device model, operating system version, app version, language and country — tied to the same pseudonymous install identifier. We use this to see what's working, find crashes and decide what to build next. It is not used to identify you personally, and it is not sold or used for advertising.

Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. We never see or receive your payment card details — Apple handles the transaction. We use Adapty to verify receipts and manage subscription status, which means Adapty processes your purchase history, a pseudonymous app user identifier and basic device information on our behalf.

Device integrity

To stop abuse of the translation service (for example, scripts pretending to be the app), Bark Talk uses Apple's App Attest to generate a device key identifier that is sent to our server with each request. It identifies the device, not you, and is used only for abuse prevention.

Advertising

Bark Talk shows no ads and includes no advertising SDKs. There is no ad tracking, and your data is never sold.

Messages you send us

If you email support or send feedback, we keep what you send — including your email address — so we can reply and act on it.

Who else your data goes to

We don't sell your data and we don't share it with anyone beyond the providers that make the app work:

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Children

Bark Talk is rated 4+ and is a general-audience entertainment app. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy. If you are a parent or guardian with a question about your child's use of the app, email us and we'll help.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including the EEA and UK under the GDPR, and California under the CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can delete everything the app itself holds at any time from Settings → Delete my data in the app, which removes your recordings, translations and profile from your device and your iCloud. For anything held by us or our providers, email talzvi99@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Data retention and security

We keep no translation audio or results on our server — each request is processed and discarded. We keep pseudonymous usage data only as long as it's useful for improving the app, and support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your issue and keep a record of it. Data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect and store precisely so there is little to expose.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
